The European Union initiatives End of Life Vehicles (ELV) directive and the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electric and electronic equipment (RoHS) directive both ban the use of Hexavalent Chromates. Although, Hexavalent processes have been used for electroplating for over 65 years, they have environmental issues associated with them.
